Air Duct Cleaning in Spring, TX
Spring Air
Quality Services
Licensed air quality, duct, attic, and mold services for homes in Spring.
In Spring, indoor air issues often build in the background before they become obvious enough to name. The house feels dustier. One room stays warmer than the others. The air starts to feel a little heavier, or a musty smell shows up now and then without a clear source. In a lot of homes, the problem starts where people rarely spend time looking: inside ductwork, above the ceiling in the attic, or in materials that have been holding moisture longer than they should. Spring homes deal with the same long cooling seasons and humidity that shape air quality across this part of Texas, but the mix of older neighborhoods, established tree cover, and steady HVAC use can make those issues linger quietly. Our licensed technicians provide air duct cleaning, attic cleaning, and mold remediation in Spring with a careful, technician-led approach focused on finding the source and correcting it properly.

Quick Answers
Common questions we hear from homeowners in Spring.
Do homes in Spring deal with mold issues?
Yes, and for reasons specific to the area. Much of Spring sits in the Cypress Creek and Spring Creek watersheds, where Hurricane Harvey flooded thousands of homes and the Tax Day and late May floods of 2016 put water into homes again. Add Gulf Coast humidity most of the year and a long cooling season, and any home with a flood history, a slow leak, or an AC system that cools without drying the air can grow mold. It usually starts out of sight, in the air handler, the ductwork, the attic, or behind drywall that took water once and dried slowly. If something smells musty or you are seeing spots, a professional mold inspection tells you what you are dealing with before it spreads.
What are the signs that air ducts may need cleaning?
Dust that settles again a day or two after you clean, rooms that get weaker airflow than they used to, dark buildup around the vent covers, and a stale or musty smell when the system starts are the common ones. Allergy symptoms that ease when you leave the house are another. In Spring, the age of the neighborhood matters too: a home in Champion Forest or Klein built in the late 1970s or 1980s may be on its third or fourth AC unit while still running some of the original ductwork, and decades of dust, pollen, and construction debris add up inside it. A professional air duct cleaning starts with an inspection of the whole system, so you find out whether cleaning is enough or a section needs repair.
Can attic issues affect indoor air quality?
Often more than homeowners expect, because in most Spring homes the attic is where the ductwork and frequently the air handler live. A Texas attic can reach 140 to 160 degrees in summer, and that heat dries out duct tape and mastic, stiffens flex duct, and loosens connections over time. Once a joint opens, the system can pull hot, dusty, humid attic air into the ducts and push it into the rooms below. Old insulation, roof leaks, and pests leave behind dust and debris that can travel the same way. If the upstairs never quite cools, or the house smells dusty when the AC runs, have the attic side of the system checked along with the ducts. Our attic services handle the insulation and cleanup side of the problem.
Our home in Champion Forest dates to the late 1970s. Is the original ductwork still in good shape?
It is worth checking, because many established Spring neighborhoods were built between the early 1970s and the mid 1990s, and Champion Forest’s typical home dates to around 1982. Over that many years, the AC equipment usually gets replaced more than once while the ductwork stays put. Flex duct in a hot Texas attic tends to have a practical life of about 15 to 20 years before the liner breaks down and the outer jacket cracks, and the fiberglass duct board common in homes of that era can hold moisture and dust once its facing is damaged. An inspection tells you whether the ducts can be cleaned and resealed or whether some runs should be replaced. That is the first step of every air duct cleaning we do.
Our neighborhood flooded during Harvey or the 2016 floods. Could the HVAC system still be holding mold?
It can. Harvey flooded roughly 9,450 homes in the Cypress Creek watershed, and Spring neighborhoods like Champion Forest, Ponderosa Forest, and Wimbledon Champions were among the hardest hit. The Tax Day and late May floods of 2016 put water into homes along Cypress and Spring creeks a year earlier. Mold can take hold on wet materials in about 24 to 48 hours, so wall cavities, duct insulation, and air handlers that were not opened and dried quickly after a flood may still be holding growth that comes back with every humid season. If your home took water and the HVAC system was never inspected afterward, a mold inspection settles the question, and HVAC mold removal addresses the system itself if growth is found.
There is a musty smell when the AC turns on in our Spring home. What causes that?
A musty smell that shows up right when the system starts usually points to growth inside the system itself: on the evaporator coil, in the drain pan, inside the air handler cabinet, or along the inside of the ducts. Those parts stay damp for much of the year because the AC pulls moisture out of humid Houston-area air every time it runs. When the blower kicks on, it carries that odor, and spores along with it, into every room. Until it is inspected, set the thermostat fan to AUTO instead of ON and skip the air fresheners, which only cover up the signal. This exact problem is what our HVAC mold removal service is built for.
We live in a newer community like Gleannloch Farms or Springwoods Village. Do newer homes need duct cleaning?
Newer is relative. Gleannloch Farms was built out between 1998 and 2017, so many of its homes are now 20 years old or more and still on their original ductwork. Springwoods Village is younger, growing up around the ExxonMobil campus that opened around 2014, and newer construction brings its own issues: drywall dust and sawdust left in the ducts after the build, and tightly sealed homes where an oversized AC cools the air quickly but shuts off before it removes much humidity. Either way, a duct inspection is the honest starting point. Sometimes the answer is a cleaning, sometimes it is sealing a few connections, and sometimes nothing is needed yet. Our air duct cleaning team will tell you which.
Do the trees around Spring neighborhoods affect indoor air?
They do. The mature pines and oaks are a big part of why people love older Spring neighborhoods, and they bring some air quality tradeoffs. The yellow dust that coats cars in late winter is mostly pine pollen, and its grains are large enough that it is more nuisance than allergen. Oak pollen is finer and is the bigger problem for allergy sufferers, and it can get past basic filters and settle in the ductwork and on the coil, where it builds up season after season. Shaded roofs and leaf-filled gutters also stay damp longer, which matters for attics and roof leaks. A good filter changed on schedule helps, and periodic air duct cleaning clears out what the filter missed.
Who handles licensed mold remediation in Spring, and how does the testing work?
Texas requires a licensed mold remediation contractor when the growth covers more than 25 contiguous square feet, and Air Quality Express holds Texas mold remediation license #RCO1553. On jobs that call for a formal protocol, Texas also separates testing from removal: an independent licensed mold assessor writes the plan and does the final clearance test, and the remediation company does the work in between. That way nobody grades their own work. A passed clearance can also earn the homeowner a Certificate of Mold Damage Remediation, a state document that helps when you sell. Which parts of Spring do you serve?
All of it, on both the Harris County and Montgomery County sides. That includes Old Town Spring, Klein, Champion Forest, Gleannloch Farms, Springwoods Village, Northgate Forest, and the neighborhoods along I-45, State Highway 249, and the Grand Parkway, along with nearby Tomball, The Woodlands, and Cypress. Spring was a small railroad town platted in 1873 and grew quickly from the 1970s on, so we see everything from established homes with original ductwork to brand new builds.
